More information : (NY 1862 6052) Fortlet (GS) (Site of) (1)
Dressed freestone, Upchurch and Samian ware were discovered on the site in 1880 by J Robinson. (2)
The milefortlet was located in 1945 by the finding of turfwork immediately beyond the stream NE of the farm of Pasture House. (3)
NY 1862 6051) Sited from plans and APs. (4)
The earthwork, particularly the E side and the rounded NE corner, is clearly visible on APs. It is about 52 yds square between ditch centres. Visited 30-AUG-1949. (5)
The site indicated occurs on a platform of ground slightly higher to seaward. There are several vague banks in the area but none that could definitely be associated with the milefortlet. A doubtful position; the ground falls away to the SW. (6)
At NY 1861 6051, within a pasture field, is a slight rise in the ground bounded by the remians of a ploughed-down and spread ditch, 0.2-0.3m deep. Surveyed at 1:2500 as a part of the RCHME: Cumberland Coast Project. (7)
Most of the outline of the milefortlet was seen as a soilmark on vertical air photographs from 1946. Parts of the southern and eastern sides were not visible on available air photographs. (8)
Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (9)
