Summary : Bronze Age ring bank representing the site of a house. The feature comprises a low bank of rubble and earth 12-14m in diameter, 3m wide and 0.4m high. There is a distinct entrance gap on the south side, 4m in width. The north arc of the ring bank has been disturbed by vehicular access across it. A faint semi-circular scarp within the feature may be the remains of an interior building. Scheduled. |
More information : SK 2300 8418 (FCE). Flattened ring bank on Sheepwash Bank represents the site of a Bronze Age house. It has previously been included as part of NMR record SK 28 SW 1, where it is described as hut circle `A'; see SK 28 SW 1 for the previous recording and survey history of this monument.
The feature comprises a low bank of rubble and earth 12-14m in diameter, 3m wide and 0.4m high. There is a distinct entrance gap on the south side, 4m in width. A second similar earthwork was recorded some 120 m to the south-east (see SK 28 SW 70).
