Summary : Irton Hall is a large house with the remains of a fortified tower-house incorporated into it. The tower house dates to the 14th century date. It was much rebuilt and remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries, including enlargement in 1874. It was used as a school by 1967 until the early 1980s. It is now used as a Bed and Breakfast and holiday accommodation.

Irton Hall was founded in the 14th. cent. when the tower was
probably built by Adam de Irton. Much rebuilt and remodelled in the 18th.-19th. cents. (2)

The hall, now a school, presents a predominately mid. 18th. cent. appearance, but is of outstanding architectural interest - See
G.P. and pamphlet in box. The "King's Oak" is positioned (on 25") at NY 1051 0046.

The undulating park has many wet hollows and natural dry platforms, a few with amorphous building sites probably representing medieval domestic occupation. (3)

MEDIEVAL TOWER INCORPORATED INTO IRTON HALL
