IRTON HALL

Irton Hall is a large house with the remains of a fortified tower-house incorporated into it. The tower house dates to the 14th century date. It was much rebuilt and remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries, including enlargement in 1874. It was used as a school by 1967 until the early 1980s. It is now used as a Bed and Breakfast and holiday accommodation.
