Irton Hall was founded in the 14th. cent. when the tower was probably built by Adam de Irton. Much rebuilt and remodelled in the 18th.-19th. cents. (2)
The hall, now a school, presents a predominately mid. 18th. cent. appearance, but is of outstanding architectural interest - See G.P. and pamphlet in box. The "King's Oak" is positioned (on 25") at NY 1051 0046.
The undulating park has many wet hollows and natural dry platforms, a few with amorphous building sites probably representing medieval domestic occupation. (3)
