The Charter of William fitz William fitz Alan was granted to the town
of Oswestry in 1190 x 1200. This granted protection to his burgesses
of `Blancmoster' (ie. Oswestry), especially those who have taken messuages from his bailiff for the improvement of the market.(1-1a)
