NORTH GATE

ALTERNATIVE NAME:  CHAPEL OF OUR LADY UPON NORTH GATE, CHAPEL OF ST MARY UPON NORTH GATE

Fragment of was discovered, probably indicative of site of the North Gate of the Roman, and Mediaeval, city wall, recorded in building work. Documentary sources indicate that the upper storey of the gate contained a Chapel dedicated to St Mary. The gate was demolished in 1772.
