The town of Cottingham was referred to in the Domesday book of 1086
as Cotingeham (a), and had the same name in the Charter Rolls of 1227
(b). In a charter dated 1156, the town was referred to as Cotingham
(c), as it was in the Curia Regis Rolls dated 1201 (d). (1-1d)
