Summary : A disc barrow originally identified as a bowl barrow, may have contained a crouched inhumation
More information : SU 18705660; Pewsey 8 a bowl barrow 12 paces in diameter, 1ft high. Either this barrow or Pewsey 9 (SU 15 NE 96) contained a primary crouched inhumation. (1) Excavated in 1958 and was found to be a disc barrow. No burials were recorded but small cup-shaped pits of charcoal were found. There is some evidence in the silting of the ditch of a Romano-British cultivation layer. (2) Pewsey 8. A disc barrow totally destroyed. (3) Originally recorded as Pewsey 8 by Goddard. (4)
