Summary : A Bronze Age bell barrow forming part of the Everleigh Barrow Group. The barrow was designated as Everleigh 1 by Grinsell (1957) and survives as an earthwork with an overall diameter of 48 metres. The mound survives to a height of 2 metres, the ditch is 0.5 metres deep and is overlain by the outer bank of Everleigh 3 (Monument HOB UID 918569 - SU 15 NE 86). The barrow was excavated by J.Thurnam between 1853-57 who located a primary cremation and a possible Roman or Anglo-Saxon intrusive inhumation.

SU 18485603: Everleigh 1, a bell barrow 147 feet x 13.5 feet. Excavated by Thurnham who found a primary cremation and a possible Roman or Early Medieval intrusive extended skeleton. (2-3)

Everleigh 1. A well preserved, grass and bush covered . Overall diameter 48 metres, height 2 metres, ditch 0.5 metres deep and overlain by the outer bank of Everleigh 3 (Monument HOB UID 918569 - SU 15 NE 86) on the south west. Surveyed at 1:2500. (4)
