This eared pillbox situated at the north end of Hornsea formed part of the beach defence system of the town. It was of reinforced concrete construction, and was plotted from aerial photographs dated 1945. The site was also visited by the Fortress Studies Group in 1992 as part of the Holderness survey they found that the site was totally destroyed. (1-1a)
The monument is also visible as an upstanding structure on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
