More information : TA 2159 4623. Trench. This infantry trench, is positioned to the north of Rolston Camp. It has a stepped plan, the so-called steps acting as traverses. The site was plotted from aerial photographs dated 1945 by the Fortress Studies Group. When the FSG visited the site in 1992 as part of the Holderness Survey the trench was found to have been destroyed by the effects of coastal erosion. (1-1a)
The monument is also visible as earthworks on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. The trench is flanked by barbed wire visible as structure. Due to coastal erosion the monument no longer survives. (2)
