More information : (TA 2154 4575) Army camp. This camp, consisting of a number of huts constructed from wood, brick and asbestos sheeting, is situated to the east of the village of Rolston. The camp was used for training during the war and is related to the rifle ranges to its north and south. Some of its most notable wartime trainees were the men and women who would have made up the English resistance in the event of an invasion. The site was visited by the Fortress Studies Group in 1992 during the Holderness Survey. They found the site to be in very good condition, although it was at risk from the effects of coastal erosion. Whitin the army camp lies a short section of a trench visible as an earthwork at TA 2148 4573. Due to coastal erosion part of the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
