Summary : Second World War fire command radar battery observation post at Ringbrough Battery. A single storey rectangular reinforced concrete structure with a flat concrete roof raised at the seaward end to allow for a mezzanine observation post. Collapsed after 1992 due to erosion.
More information : (TA 2640 3864) Fire Command Radar battery observation post.

This Battery Observation Post (BOP) was fitted with a radar system to
assist Ringbrough Battery in its role as an anti-bombardment battery.
The BOP was number 2 for the Ringbrough Battery and the radar was the
coastal artillery No.1 Mk.III radar set coupled with a no. 17
director. This system gave a spotting accuracy of 25yds at 20 miles
range. (1)

The building was a single storey rectangular plan re-inforced concrete structure with a flat concrete roof raised at the seaward end to allow for a mezzanine observation post. Two concrete buttresses to each side wall acted as bases for the radar gantry. When visited by the Fortress Study Group in 1992 as part of the Holderness Survey, they found the building to be leaning
at a 45 degree angle over the cliff edge. The FSG have since confirmed that the BOP has fallen over the edge, and is now rubble on the beach. (2 & 4)

The monument is also visible as upstanding structures on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary.
Due to coastal erosion part of the monument no longer survives in situ.
