ATHENA

1915 wreck of English smack which foundered 30 to 35 miles ESE of Lowestoft (approximately 25 miles east of Orford Ness) after being captured and scuttled while on a fishing and return trip out of her home port. She was one of eight Lowestoft trawlers all lost on the same day; for the others, please see TM 76 NW 46 / 914565; TG 83 NE 59 / 1490862; TM 76 NW 44 / 914561; TM 76 NW 45 / 914562; TG 83 NE 60 / 1490870; TM 76 NW 43 / 914560 and TG 83 NE 61 / 1490872. Constructed of wood, she was a sailing vessel.
