Summary : A turret instructional building at Catfoss airfield. The building was an aircraft gunnery training facility built during World War Two. The building is square, of one and a half storeys, built of cement rendered brick with a gabled roof. The roof covering was originally asbestos, now plastic sheeting.
More information : (TA 1237 4834) Turret trainer.

This building is situated towards the west side of Catfoss
Airfield. The building was used for the synthetic training of air
gunners using a mock turret and a projection screen. It takes the
form of `one and a half' storey, square, cement rendered brick
building with a large doorway in the south wall, over which is a
rectangular ventilator opening. The doorway is flanked by two large 12 panel vertical metal framed windows. There is plastic corregated sheeting on the steel truss roof, although this is a recent addition, the roof originally being clad in asbestos. The building was in good condition when it was visited by the Fortress Studies Group in 1992, and it was felt that the building was at no immediate risk. (1-1a-1b)

The turret instructional building was still extant in 1999 when it was photographed for Airfield Review. (2)
