The Spur Redoubt was built ca.1680 as part of de Gomne's remodelling of the town defences. A small fort of triangular plan, it has detached from the Long Curtain, accessed by a bridge across the moat. It was excavated in 1988, showing that an additional 5m thick walling had been added to the Southern side, possibly when J.P Desmoretz modified the defences in the mid C18th. It is currently being restored. (1)
