An estate map of 1782 shows a number of fishponds all of which maybe monastic in origin. The main rectangular pond is shown as it is today but for hatchery ponds on its west instead of the one which currently survives. Immediately south of the large pond was a moatlike one at ST 92585342. The outline of this is shown on the OS 25". Its southern side is now virtually destroyed by tipping. (3-4)
A large rectangular fishpond measuring 150m by 90m with a low broad retaining bank along the north side and east end, 8m to 10m wide, up to 0.7m high. (5)
