ST 92605335. The house called `The Priory' is an unprepossessing 16th century 16th century building, Pevsner is doubtful if it is pre- or post-Reformation. From it in 1782, a range of buildings (with two western wings) extended southwards and abutted the church. (2)
It is possible that the central portion of `The Priory' is a 16th century stone-built private residence with later crenellated tower wings at either end and modern additions to the rear. (3)
Late Medieval house incorporating part of the monastic buildings, rebuilt c. 1600 by Sir William Paulet, altered 17-18th century. Most of the house was demolished in 1768. Grade I (4) |
