Summary : Parish church built mainly in the early 14th century, although the lower part of the tower was built earlier, circa 1150. The church was restored in 1655 by Lady Anne Clifford and it was restored again in 1861-2 and 1960. It is made from coursed rubble with lead roofs. The church consists of a nave with a castellated clerestory, aisles, a chancel, a south-west porch and a castellated west tower with a clock dated 1699. Inside is a particularly fine organ brought from Carlisle Cathedral. |
