More information : ST89604585, Several inhumations have been located in chalk quarries just outside the north west entrance to Battlesbury Hillfort. Excavations by Cunnington located a inhumation with the remains of a horse nearby (1). M.E Cunnington also reports a number of inhumations, some contracted, were located over a period of time. These included a burial of an adult and child, and 5 or 6 skulls placed close together. No associated grave goods were reported. Most of the inhumations were destroyed. (2)
