SJ 9699 8024. Bowl barrow 50m S of summit of Sponds Hill.Scheduled RSM No 22572. A flat-topped turf-covered oval mound of earth and stone up to 1m high with maximum dimensions of 19.5m by 16m.
SJ 9700 8029. Bowl barrow on summit of Sponds Hill. Scheduled RSM No 22571. A slightly oval mound of earth and stones up to 0.5m high with maximum dimensions of 8.25m by 7.5m. There is an OS column on the barrow's summit (2).
The two bowl barrows of Bronze Age date, centred at SJ 9700 8029 and SJ 9700 8026, were mapped as part of the Cheshire National Mapping Programme project. They are visible on the latest 2011 vertical photography as extant earthwork mounds with diameters of around 8 to 8.5 metres, though the southern barrow appears to have had a scoop removed from its northern side and centre (3).
