Summary : Possible site of a tower house. A licence to crenellate was granted in 1310 and a tower at this location was recorded in a survey of 1415. No physical trace of a tower has been found at the supposed site.
More information : Licence to crenellate his mansion at Newlands (NU11643242) was granted to John de Middleton on July 22nd 1310. (1) A tower is listed in 1415. (2) No trace of a tower survives in or around the present farmstead, which traditionally occupies its site. (3) Listed by Cathcart King and Dodds. (4,5)
