More information : Near Upton Hall on the road from Macclesfield to Fallibroome is a stone pillar, six foot high, built into the wall at the side of the road. (1) There is a Danish 'staff-rood' cross at Upton Hall near Macclesfield, Cheshire, which is similar to other crosses dated by Collingwood to the 11th cent. (a) (2) Located at approx. SJ 897750, Mr. B.W. Mayer of Upton Hall Farm said that the stone had been moved back from its former position in the wall when the road was widened c. 1936. (3) The cross is sunk into the ground at SJ 8972 7510. It is 1.3m high and is similar to the three early 11th C. crosses at SJ 9105 7414 [SJ 97 S.W. 13] See G.P.
