Summary : The Potteries Loop Line was authorised in 1865 to unite Hanley and Kidsgrove, and provide a service to the six towns on the 7 3/4 mile long route. It was extended from Hanley to Burslem and Tunstall in 1873 and to Golden Hill in 1874. The Tunstall branch was opened for goods, and the loop line completed to Kidsgrove in 1875. The loop line was closed to passengers and the Tunstall branch closed in 1964, but a length from Birchenwood to Park Farm Bunker, Golden Hill was re-opened for goods in 1971. The loop line is not shown as extant in 1978. |
