Summary : A moat with a platform roughly 30.0 m square and a ditch 12.0-14.0 m on three sides, now dry, but water-filled until 1938. A very wide ditch and arm 19.0-24.0 m wide on the North-West side appears to be a fishpond. Ridge and furrow runs from the South-East to the North-Wset over the entire moat.

A moat with a platform roughly 30.0 m square and a ditch 12.0-14.0 m on three sides, now dry, but water-filled until 1938. A very wide ditch and arm 19.0-24.0 m wide on the NW side appears to be a fishpond. Ridge and furrow runs from the SE to the NW over the entire moat. The initial survey of the site by the North-east Cheshire Moated Sites Research Group in 1978 is not complete, and will continue next spring. (3) A small, rectangular moat with appendages (4) SJ 7216 8334. Hough Hall moated site, ancillary enclosure and fishpond. Scheduled RSM No 13478. (5)
