The later brown brick exterior walls enclose Medieval work including a ground floor heavy moulded carved beam and cross beam, purlins in the attic, and 17th century doors on the first floor. Grade 1. The Medieval stone bridge over the moat has two arches, and triangular central buttresses with seats at road level. Grade 1. (3) Hulme Hall. A small rescue operation was carried out prior to the laying down of a pipeline and septic tank on the platform in October, 1974. At a depth of about one metre, a well laid brick floor laid on the sub-soil and showing little wear, was revealed. This ran up to what had been the western wall of a building, indicated by a rubble filled foundation trench. Three upright flagstones, apparently supports, were found at the southern end, and four worked sandstone blocks with a packing between and partially around them, followed the line of the southern end of the building. They may have been stylobates for timber uprights. A further two moulded sandstone blocks, possibly internal structural features, were found lying loose at a depth of 1.25m by a mechanical excavator some 3.0m from the northern end of the trench. Further excavations are to take place. Pottery, mostly Staffordshire ware, was of the period between 1650 and 1740. (4) A water-filled homestead moat, the scarp of which has been mutilated in parts.
