[SJ 79736987]. Site of Tumulus. Urn containing Human remains found
1867. (3)

Five tumuli at Twemlow are situated nearly equidistant apart for
a quartermile along the banks of a small brook, the seat of Mr.
Egerton Leigh being between the 2nd. and 3rd. The fifth is
unusually large. (4)

Mr. Egerton Leigh formerly owned Jodrell Hall (a)
(A) At SJ 79077037 are the remains of a probable round barrow,
some 45.0m. diameter, and 0.9m. high. It is ploughed down in the
west.
(B) At SJ 79397029 is a probable round barrow.It is 42.0m. diameter
and 1.2m. high.
(C) At SJ 79627008,the site of the tumulus is occupied by
a lawn and there is no trace of antiquity.
(D) At SJ 79736987 is a very spread mound approx. 35.0m. in
diameter and 0.7m. high. It is partly under plough and is
unsurveyable.
(E) At SJ 79816975 is a round barrow,35.0m. dia., and 1.7m.
high.
(F) At SJ 79856966 is a low mound,0.5m.high,and
35.0m.diameter,probably a round barrow.It is previously
unrecorded.
Surveyed at 1:2500. (5)

Condition unchanged. Barrows 'A' & 'B' surveyed at 1/2500. (6)

SJ 7938 7029. Bowl barrow 50m S of Jodrell Bank Farm. Scheduled RSM
No 23654. The oval earthen mound stands up to 1.3m high with
maximum dimensions of 58m E-W by 40m N-S. In 1977 cremations were
exposed during ploughing across the mound. 'B' above.

SJ 7974 6987. Bowl barrow 550m SE of Jodrell Bank Farm. Scheduled
RSM No 23655. The oval earthen mound is up to 35m in diameter with
a height of 0.7m. Limited antiquarian investigation of the barrow
located an urn containing cremated bone. 'D' above.

SJ 7981 6975. Bowl barrow 700m SE of Jodrell Bank Farm. Scheduled
RSM No 23656. The oval earthen mound stands up to 1.8m high with
maximum dimensions of 50m NW-SE by 44m NE-SW. 'E' above.

SJ 7984 6967. Bowl barrow 800m SE of Jodrell Bank Farm. Scheduled
RSM No 23657. The oval earthem mound stands up to a height of 0.5m
with maximum dimensions of 45m NE-SW by 35m NW-SE. 'F' above. (9)
