More information : [Name Centred SJ 7135 4694] Deer Park [T.I.] [Name Centred SJ 7125 4684] Doddington Park [T.I.] (1) An extensive park, containing both red and fallow deer, still exists at Doddington. (2) Doddington is listed under deer parks of which there is evidence of licence to impark. "In 1364 John de Delves had licence to embattle his mansion house of Doddington, and this would probably be followed by the enclosing of a park". (3) The present park boundary has a comparatively modern brick retaining wall on one side of a ha-ha. The park no longer contains deer and the ha-ha is being filled in. The course of the ?14th century park boundary was not determined. (4)
DODDINGTON PARK II
Extensive C18th landscape park, woodland and lake (circa 100 ha). Capability Brown called circa 1777 to advise changes to the earlier C18th landscape park and enlarged the lake - Doddington Pool - to the east. South garden front to hall has large symmetrical C19th parterre. (5)
The park was landscaped c1770 by Lancelot Brown. (6)
