Summary : Possible site of a fortified manor house of the early 14th century.
More information : (SJ 68810624) Dawley Castle (NR) (Site of) (NAT)
Castle Pool (NR) (1)

A patent dated at York on Nov 17 1316 permits William ale Mouton to fortify his mansion "of Dalileye" with a stone wall and to embattle the same. (2)

There are no extant remains of Dawley Castle. The earthworks to the north of the published site are a result of modern tipping of waste materials from factories. There is no evidence to connect Castle Pool (SJ 68840615) with Dawley Castle except for its proximity. (3)
