Summary : Bronze Age, Roman and medieval finds from the area of Red Castle include the following: a Bronze Age hoard comprising either four socketed axes, three palstaves and a spearhead, or two palstaves, four socketed axes and a "tongue shaped object that may be an ingot of metal"; Roman items including coins, pins and a needle, plus small ornaments and iron objects; and "medieval remains".
More information : [Marginal] Bronze implements, variously described as 'four....socketed celts, three palstaves and one spearhead found near the Red Castle (1) [SJ 52 NE 3] and '...in the ruins of Red Castle... a hoard of the late Bronze Age, comprising 2 looped palstaves, 4 socketed axes, and a tongue-shaped object that may be an ingot of metal'.. are in the possession of Sir Alexander Stanier, The Citadel, Weston (2).

A Roman coin found in the ruins of Red Castle. (1-3)

Bronze implements, pins and a needle (probably Roman). Also four Roman coins, small ornaments, iron objects and mediaeval remains, found in ruins of the Red Castle and now in the possession of Lady Stanier, The Citadel. (4)

Sir Alexander and Lady Stanier have left the area and the precise sites of the finds were not established. (5)
