Summary : The remains of the forum of Wroxeter Roman city which was built between AD 125-35 when Hadrian was Emperor. Situated on the west side of the present road are the remains of the street colonnade of the forum. This was demolished circa AD 300, but a fine row of column bases survives at Roman ground level. |

The location of the forum and forum basilica. Beneath it lies the unfinished military-phase baths adting to the 80s AD. The area was extensively excavated by Atkinson in 1923-7, but subsequent aerial photographs and geophysical surveys demonstrate excellent survival of major walls of the complex. Abundant artefactual evidence relating to the occupation and use was found, including Wroxeter mirror. Wroxeter Roman City Conservation Plan Gazetteer Heritage Asset Number 504. (3-4)
