Summary : Earthwork remains of a homestead moat.

There are traces of a moated site near Malpas station, in a field
called the Old Hall Heys. Local tradition claims it to be that
of the original house of the Dods of Edge. Excavations revealed
nothing except what might be the residue of burnt or decayed wood.

Moat, 10.0 to 12.0 m wide with an average depth of 0.6 m enclosing
an island 38.0 m by 43.0 m. Mutilated on the E and S sides,
probably during the construction of the Vyrnwy Aqueduct which
cuts across the SE corner. The moat is now dry and under pasture.
