Summary : A square barrow in Broxa Forest. In 1951, the barrow mound was excavated by Lamplough and Lidster and fragments of a collared urn were found. Scheduled. The barrow is visible as an earthwork on air photographs and has been mapped as part of the North York Moors National Mapping Programme Project. The earthwork appears extant on the latest 2009 vertical photographs.

SE 96629309. Lamplough 17. Bronze Age round barrow investigated
by W.H. Lamplough and J.R. Lidster in 1951. A collared urn of
Longworth Secondary Series, Form 1B.
(Corpus No 1278) was recovered and sherds of another, including
fragments of shoulder and body (Corpus No. 1279). Archival
material with W.H. Lamplough. (RCHM Excav. Index PRN 11273). (3-4)

Scheduled as a square barrow. Barrow located 580 metres south-east of Whisperdales, in Broxa Forest. The barrow mound measures 10 metres by 7 metres and stands up to 0.5 metres high. (5)

The probable Iron Age square barrow is visible as an earthwork on air photographs centred at SE 9662 9313. The barrow measures approximately 10m x 9m and has been mapped as part of the North York Moors National Mapping Programme Project. The earthwork appears extant on the latest 2009 vertical photographs.
