More information : An Iron Age/Romano British farmstead, visible as a rectangular enclosure on air photographs (at SE 85686460). A section was dug across its western ditch at a point where the sunken road from Wharram Percy (SE 86 SE 4) makes a sharp turn north. A 1st Century ditch, 3.0m wide and 2.0m deep, was found part filled with compacted chalk for foundations of later (possibly 2nd Cent) buildings or roads. Finds incuded two sherds of colour coated ware and a typical 4th Cent strongly everted cooking pot rim. (1-2) No visible remains, site under plough. (3)
