A conduit on Coombe Wood golf course is known locally as "Gallows Tamkin". It was built in c.1514 as part of Cardinal Wolsey's water supply for Hampton Court Palace(TQ 16 NE 5), and is a small rectangular building, 9 feet by 6 feet inches internally. It is the only tamkin surviving above ground in the system. A tamkin is an access point for plugging off sections of the supply system which required isolation for carrying out repairsGRADE II (2-3) Scheduled: Lon 60 (4)
