Formal gardens created by Vita Sackville-West and Sir Harold Nicolson from 1930 until 1939 and were cared for by joint head gardeners Pamela Schwerdt and Sibylle Kreutzberger from 1959 until 1990. The park is first documented in 1531 and is shown on maps as Sissinghurst Park in 1820. However, the present park dates from the mid-late 19th century. (2) |
