DERWENT VALLEY LIGHT RAILWAY

The Derwent Valley Light Railway was opened in 1913 to serve the agricultural area south of York. It closed to passengers in 1926, but continued in use until 1965. It then began to close in sections, being fully closed in the 1980s.
