More information : South Duffield (Hemingbrough). "Beside church another raised but
unmoated earthwork". Perhaps associated with Amcote's manor, or
capital messuage held by Bassets (see SE 63 SE 6 for possibly
associated moated site). (1). No church has ever existed at South
Duffield but a Wesleyan Methodist chapel, built in 1824 and closed in
1969 (2) may be the 'church' referred to by le Patourel. (Shown on OS6" 1854 at SE 68123345). (1 - 2)
