Mentioned in Domesday Book and Nomina Villarum ... 14th c. tax data suggests the Black Death destruction of a small hamlet. The township has an area of 653 acres. There are curious earthworks on the north of the Thorner-Bramham road. (1)
Remains of this village have been surveyed in the area SE 40454253. They comprise parts of three parallel roadways terraced into the southern face of the hillside. The banks and scarps of these roads are grass covered, but have a high stone content. There are few distinguishable remains of individual homesteads. (2)
