Summary : The base is all that remains of the boiler plant chimney at Skelton Park Ironstone Mine. It was octagonal in plan and built of brick and stone, reaching a height of circa 90ft. After the closure of the mine in 1938 the chimney was demolished leaving the massive base with its two flue openings.
