Summary : A 17th century inn with 19th century extensions and drastic 20th century alterations. It is constructed from rendered red brick with pantile roofs and occupies an irregular island site. The Orford Hill facade is of three storeys in four bays. Now a J D Wetherspoon public house (opened 1994) and also partly converted to a building society. From 1943 to 1945 the building was used as the headquarters and billets for the American Women's Army Corps. |
