Summary : Front garden walls and gate piers at Shotwick Hall. Erected circa 1665 for Joseph and Elizabeth Hockenhull. They are of orange brick in English bond with red sandstone dressings and are square in plan. The plain front wall is on a stone plinth with corner and intermediate square piers, stone framing of the body and moulded capstones. The central gatepiers are similar but with larger ball finials and jambs topped by small scrolls from which hang a pair of 20th century iron gates. |
