Summary : The church is of late 12th century origin, the nave was rebuilt circa 1832, though it still retains inner medieval walls, and the chancel was rebuilt and extended by Joseph Furness circa 1834. The late 12th century tower was embattled circa 1911. The Gothic Revival style building has a dressed stone tower, with hammer dressed stone to the body of the church and a stone slate roof. Outside the south door is a probable pre-Conquest cross-base. |
