Summary : Mansion House underground station opened as a terminus station on 3rd July 1871 when the District Railway was extended to Mansion House from Blackfriars. The facade of the station was rebuilt in 1929 with a similar stone frontage to those used on Charles Holden's Morden extension stations a few years earlier. This facade, however, does not remain. The station was erected on the site of the Church of Holy Trinity the Less (see TQ 38 SW 116). |
