Summary : Railway station, opened by the London and South Western Railway on 1st January 1869. Underground services arrived here on 1st June 1877 when the District extended its line west of Hammersmith to connect with the L&SWR tracks from Hammersmith (Grove Road) to Richmond. Metropolitan trains started to serve the station on 1st October 1877 when they opened a branch from Shepherd's Bush via Hammersmith (Grove Road) on L&SWR tracks to Richmond. Metropolitan services ceased on 31st December 1906 when the branch from Shepherd's Bush was closed. The station was rebuilt in 1911 and in 1963 Piccadilly line trains started to serve the station. |
