Summary : Holloway station was opened on 15th December 1906 by the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompron Railway as an intermediate station on its line from Hammersmith to Finsbury Park. The station was designed by Leslie Green using moulded terracotta blocks, heavily glazed in a deep ruby red colour described as 'sang de boeuf' - oxblood. The ground floor housed the booking office and upper lift landing whilst a mezzanine floor contained the lift gear. The facade comprises six arches which are carried up around the windows in the mezzanine floor.
