Summary : South Ealing station opened on the 1st May 1883. It was built as an intermediate station on the Hounslow and Metropolitan Railway, the Metropolitan District Railway's new extension from Mill Hill Park (now Acton Town) to Hounslow Town. In 1931 with the extension of the Piccadilly line a new ticket office opened on the south side of the tracks. Piccadilly line trains first served South Ealing on 29th April 1935 with the District line servive being withdrawn on 9th October 1964. In the 1980s a completely new ticket hall was built at South Ealing on the north side of the tracks, on the site occupied by the original station buildings until the 1931 ticket office opened. The modern ticket office came into use on 3rd May 1988, concurrently with a new covered footbridge to all platforms. |
