Summary : Railway station, opened as Bromley on 31 March 1858 on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. Underground services arrived here in 1902 when the District extended the line from Whitechapel to Bromley by building the Whitechapel and Bow Railway where it joined the London Tilbury and Southend Railway's line to Upminster. In 1936 the Metropolitan, now Hammersmith and City, opened a service along the Distict line from Whitechapel to Barking, with Bromley serving as one of eight new intermediate stations on the new stretch.
