Summary : Railway station, opened as Gale Street Halt on the Barking and Pitsea Railway, opened in 1888. On 18th July 1932 a rebuilt station was renamed Becontree. A new station opened to London Underground trains on 12th September 1932 when the District Line, east from Barking to Upmister, was reopened.
