Summary : Railway station on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway, opened on 13th April 1854. It was first used by Underground trains on 2nd June 1902 when the District line introduced services to Upminster. On 4th May 1938 the station became a terminus for Metropolitan trains when a service was introduced along the District line from Whitechapel.
