Summary : Stamford School was founded in 1532 and moved into the parish of St. Paul, which had recently been amalgamated with that of St. George, and incorperated the redundant parish church into the new school structure. The old church buildings were restored as the school chapel in 1930. The school itself was a grammar school by at least the 19th century, and has been further extended during the 20th century.
